Le classi di rischio delle Aree di Base (ADB) derivano dalla sovrapposizione della carta del rischio d'incendio sulla carta delle Aree di Base (dove con Aree di Base si intende le unità gestionali per tutti gli aspetti legati alla lotta attiva agli incendi boschivi).
